West & Midlands Iris Show held at Norton Village Hall on 22nd May 2010
This year's show was a great success. The cold start to the year did not bode well and there were less entries than usual in the
Tall Bearded and Siberian classes. However, this spurred everyone to make an extra effort and there were plenty of interesting irises on desplay.
Fred Raines must be congratulated for the range of beautifully coloured seedlings which he continues to raise. He deservedly won the
most points in show and the Somerset Trophy.
It was pleasing to see visitors to the show enjoying tea and homemade cake. It gave them a chance to sit and enjoy the irises in a more relaxed way and
it is hoped to improve on this next year. Thank you to all who attended and for emptying the sales table!
